Shared experience of a group of lived experience experts from their journey as a group with the support of Tanya’s Dream Fund, 2022-2023 (excerpt)
This is a story about a big dream—about people who believed in it, supported it, and those who most need this dream to come true. It is also the beginning of a story in which all these people come together, communicate, and help each other as equals, bringing with them a rich diversity of experience and expertise that makes them unique. Ultimately, this is a story about participation as the most authentic approach to creating change and fostering an inclusive community.
Who are we?
We are a group of Expert Friends (EF) of Tanya’s Dream Fund.
Why did we create this group?
We are individuals with lived experience in the care system. Our goal is to inspire and support vulnerable families and young people to take proactive steps in making decisions about their lives, using our personal experiences and stories as a guide.
What have we achieved?
- Confidence, motivation, and new knowledge about participation and influence, which we apply as Expert Friends (EF) of TDF and share with other communities.
- We have shared our stories and experiences as inspiring examples for other families and youth.
- We have created a youth-adapted version of the TDF Strategy for young people.
